Our extracurricular, Canisius Science Club (CSC), works in science. It can be stated that our extracurricular is the one and only science extracurricular that is still exist up to now. At the moment, we only work in Biology and Chemistry. The goal of CSC is to make everyone loves Science better, same as our motto “Learning through Playing”. Beside that, CSC always invites whoever has an interest in science. No matter whether the academic score is bad or you haven’t joined the Olympic, the most important thing is that you love science.
The former name of CSC is KISS CC. The number of its member fluctuates and it once made KISS CC was suspended for temporary. Short after that, several students have initiative to make KISS CC become active again.
As former years, this extracurricular is held in 12.20-13.45. For this year, we have 14 active members. And also we have 2 guidance teachers, Ms. Ruth and Mr. Andrian. For this year, we also do more experiments and those are beyond the school curriculum. Else, we also give more chance for our members to do the experiments that they really want to know about.
It can be said that we don’t have any awesome achievement from CSC this year. However, we have achieved such a great achievement by holding Canisius Science and Technology Competition (2004), by working together with Canicomp, and Canisius Science and Art Competition (2007), by working together with other extracurriculars. At that time also, we reached second position in CSAC 2007.
There are several problems that we are facing off, such as the fluctuative number of member and several members who can’t join our activity because of the other extracurriculars who hold their activities beyond their schedule. But, with the support of the teacher and our members, we still can continue our activities.
