On Going Becoming Person of Honesty

Ignatian Prayer

Daily Examen of Consciousness
(form of prayer)

The point:
To open oneself to recognize and respond to movement of God’s love in the heart in order to develop a closer relationship with God.
The daily examination of conscience is a simple form of prayer directed toward developing a spiritual sensitivity. Usually, it may be done at the end of each day, late afternoon and evening; and anywhere between five to fifteen minutes.

The steps:
1. Give thanks to God our Lord for the favors received
2. Ask for the grace to know your sins
3. Examine how you have lived this day
4. Ask forgiveness for any faults
5. Resolve to amend with the grace of God

Prayer for Generousity
(St Ignatius Loyola)

Lord, teach me to be generous.
Teach me to serve you as you deserve;
To give and not to count the cost;
To fight and not to heed the wounds;
To toil and not to seek for rest;
To labor and not to ask for reward;
Save that of knowing that I do your will.

S u s c i p e
(St Ignatius Loyola)

Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty,
My memory, understanding, and my entire will,
All that I have and call my own.
You have given all to me.
To you, Lord, I return it.
Do with it as you will.
Give me only your love and your grace;
That is enough for me.
